Binder Covers!

Hey guys! So I got a few comments about the binder covers that my friend and I made and I decided to make a tutorial. I was going to post this on tumblr, but this long post would not really work out on my "grid" theme, so I decided to make a blogger. I have no idea how to work this, so please message me via tumblr, or on blogger (if thats even possible...) for any recommendations you might have!

I started creating these binder covers by first downloading this font via dafont.com . Dafont is a great website to download free fonts and I have used it for many school assignments as well. Once you download this font you can drag the font into the application font book. I also forgot to state before that I have an Apple computer, and I truthfully don't know how to do this on a PC. So sorry!

After that, I opened up a blank Powerpoint document and adjusted it in File -> Page Setup -> Orientation and clicked the longer picture. It should look like so:

Next, I deleted both text boxes and went to Format -> Slide Background -> Fill -> Picture -> Choose Picture and picked the picture that I wanted for my first binder. At this point, your cover should look like this:

From here, I added the monogram. To do that, you click Shapes -> Basic Shapes -> and select a circle! (Unless you would like to use any other shape, that is your choice). You want to center the shape and you can make it any size you like. Then I changed the color to whatever I liked. I did this by double clicking on the shape -> Fill -> Pick a Color! Once you do that and save it, you will notice that there is still a  blue line on the outside, so you will need to double click on the shape (again) -> Line -> No line. At this point your cover should look something like this:

Now it is time to add the monogram. This may be the most complicated part, so I will explain this as best as possible and please let me know if this is in anyway confusing. I started by adding a new text box and typing the first letter of my first name: C. And then I changed the font to the one I downloaded above and then I changed the size to 150pt. Your cover should look like this:

From here, I continued with the rest of the monogram. Except, in like most monograms the last name initial (which in my case is C), is centered in the middle and is much bigger. So for my last name initial I used 175pt. You can center the letters any way you like! But I definitely recommend doing each letter in a separate text box, so you can alter the monogram to make it how you like it! By the end of this, your binder cover should be complete and should look like this:

And then you should be finished! You can alter the font color anyway you would like! I hope this helped, please let me know on tumblr or email me at sperrysandstripes@gmail.com with feedback!

ALSO! I really would love to post other peoples works on my tumblr and on my blog! So once you are done with your covers send me what you created at my email: sperrysandstripes@gmail.com and I will post them with your tumblr URL! This is a free promo =)

I will also be posting the exact binder covers that I made for my friend and I so you can personalize them yourself! Xoxo

Last, but not least, I must give credit to Prep of the South, who really originated this cool binder cover idea! Check her out!
